The “Mini Apartheid Museum”
I called it the ‘Mini apartheid museum’ because it was a really well executed gallery/museum with photographs under the liberation struggle theme in the supplies closet of the anthro museum. This group did a really nice project and it was at least in my top 2 favourite projects on that day. The highlight was seeing and touching an authentic dompas… I mean wow! that was an experience and a half. I never thought I would ever be able to experience such a piece of history.

Spirituality and forms of cleansing
This one was an experience I really didn’t expect. From what I gathered, the group showcased three different types of cleansing. One was the contemporary hygienic cleansing routines – bathing, brushing teeth, etc. The other was the traditional spiritual cleansing done by sangoma, and the third was religious catholic cleansing. It was a really well thought out project and it was interesting to experience all three of these within the confines of the museum.

Interactive game event
This group had some fun games with themes and lessons about nation building and sociopolitical issues. It was a really fun learning experience and they had really nice snacks and entertainment. They really did well in executing an event.

The fashion show
The fashion show with contemporary, historical, and ritual objects was also one of my faves. Unfortunately I don’t have really good pictures of it. Instead I have a couple of videos. I’ll find a way to upload them somewhere and then share the link here later.

The tea party
The interactive audiovisual event
I also really loved this one. I was a bit woozy from the wine that they served here, so I talked a bit too much.. Lol. We sat around tables in group and we rotated after a few minutes each time. At each table we listened to songs and then we talked about the song and its lyrics with questions that sparked the conversations. It was really interesting and deep. Made me. and I think all of us. think much deeper about things like death, fear, loneliness, laziness, etc. It was really fun. They did a good job putting it together.
